Queensland is shaping a defining decade for sport. As we build towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we have a unique opportunity to strengthen our sporting system, inspire more Queenslanders to get active, and create lasting benefits for communities across the state.

Queensland Spirit: The Road to 2032 has been shaped by the voices of Queenslanders. Through statewide consultation, thousands of people shared their aspirations for the future of sport, helping to inform a plan that reflects the values, priorities and opportunities that matter most to our communities.

Grounded in the Queensland spirit, this strategy sets the first stage of our long-term vision for sport in Queensland. It focuses on increasing participation, supporting clubs and volunteers, improving places to play, strengthening pathways from grassroots to high performance, and ensuring every Queensland community can share in the opportunities of the green and gold decade.

Our strategic priorities

  • Games On!

The Queensland Government is making sport more accessible, boosting participation and ensuring communities in every corner of the state are ready to shine leading into the 2032 Games and beyond.

The Games provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish Queensland as the undeniable home of sport, talent and events.

  • Play On!

The new Sports Vouchers program is helping more children than ever experience the benefits of sport, build confidence, make connections and lead active, healthy lives.

  • Beyond 2032

Queensland is getting ready for the Games, and to complement the significant investment in new infrastructure, we want to inspire the state to be more active, more often and work on new ways to partner with clubs, industry and councils.

Message from the Minister for Sport and Racing

Right now, Queensland is in the middle of a defining decade for sport.

We're building towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and a legacy that will benefit Queenslanders right across the state, cementing our place as the home of Australian sport.

That's why, last year, we asked Queenslanders the question: 'What does 2032 mean for you?' From Cairns to the Gold Coast, more than 400 attendees shared their thoughts in person.

We also received nearly 2,000 survey responses and over 90 submissions, which have helped shape our plan for the future of Queensland sport.

From that feedback, we are excited to share Queensland Spirit: The Road to 2032 (PDF, 7MB), the first stage of our plan to build a lasting sporting legacy. This plan is about backing Queenslanders, and that's why we have shaped it around the Queensland spirit.
